HBA - D-Day Commemorative Activities

As part of our DD-Day commemorative activities, pupils gathered around our Yew Tree to share learning and pay tribute to the brave allied forces.

Glen and Witham classes created a beach scene around the tree with model small boats arriving on the sands and silhouettes of planes flying through the sky.

Nene class wrote and recited their tribute poems which explained the story of Operation Overlord in rhyming couplets.

Welland Class sang the wartime song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and discussed the symbolism of those lyrics.

We were joined by our Chair of Governors, Mrs Jenny Worth, who is delighted that the lock-down tradition of gathering around the Yew Tree on significant occasions continues long after the Covid restrictions have passed.
