HPA - Remembrance Service

Remembrance

KS2 children held a Remembrance Service on Friday 10 November 2023. Each class produced a wreath which was placed onto the bandstand. Year 6 spoke about the importance of Remembrance and what it signifies. It was concluded by Kasia reading out her prize-winning poem about Remembrance, which ended in a 1-minute silence and the last post.

KS1 children held an assembly where they shared the story 'Where the Poppies Now Grow' by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey. They also talked about the different colours in the poppies and what they represented. Again like KS2, they had a 1 minute silence.

Children from the academy also took part in the Remembrance parade through Holbeach on Sunday 12 November 2023 to the war memorial outside All Saints Church Holbeach.

Year 5 & 6 were asked by Holbeach British Legion to write some poems for a competition. Kasia in Year 6 won the prize overall and read it out in the KS2 Remembrance Assembly. The other entries are being displayed in Tesco.

Here is Kasia’s poem.
